Roundabouts

Avon Roundabouts

Avon Road Roundabout
Avon Road, equipped with its five roundabouts, is the main connection through town for vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic.

The roundabouts relieve move traffic along the entire length of Avon Road, the main connection to Interstate 70 for Avon and Beaver Creek. The roundabouts replaced 3 stoplights and 2 stop signs and were opened in the fall of 1997.

Funding for the project came from a voter-approved increase in property tax as well as contributions from CDOT, Beaver Creek Metro District, Arrowhead Metro District, and Smith Creek (Bachelor’s Gulch) Metro District.

Raised Crosswalk - Beaver Creek Blvd.Accommodating Pedestrians

Avon encourages bicycle and pedestrian travel through town and makes safety a top priority with designated crosswalks, bicycle lanes and a posted speed limit of 25 mph. Drivers are reminded to stay alert, slow down and mind traffic crossing beacons—when flashing, a pedestrian is present and they have the right of way.

Pedestrians are reminded to always use sidewalks and crosswalk as well as use safety beacons to alert drivers that a pedestrian is present.  When crossing the street, it is advised to make eye contact with drivers before crossing. For additional information on roundabout safety, please contact the Avon Police Department at 970-748-4040.
