February Freezer & Polar Plunge | February 24, 2018

The Polar Plunge is a fundraising event benefiting the Special Olympics. Participants create teams via the Special Olympic website; teams that raise enough money can take the plunge into the freezing Nottingham Lake. Teams are also able to raise funds, opt out of taking the plunge, and cheer on other plungers. In addition to the Polar Plunge, the Town will be organizing a bike race around Avon ending at Nottingham Lake. Participants of the race will be able to register for the race by calling the Avon Recreation Center. There is a participation fee of $25.00; all proceeds benefit the Special Olympics. In addition to the fundraising activities, Mayor Jennie Fancher will be in attendance to help celebrate Avon’s 40th “birthday”. Free cake will be served!
