The America Cup International Fly Fishing Tournament starts the week of Sept. 17th and anglers are starting to arrive. This is a catch and release, fly fishing tournament with 70 international, national, youth and women anglers competing on some of the best trout waters in Colorado. The competition takes place on Friday, September 21 through Sunday, September 23 on Nottingham Lake in Avon, Sylvan Lake, sections of the Blue River and sections of the Colorado River. Registration is still available at www.theamericacup.com. Anglers from Japan, Australia, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Canada and the United States, three youth teams and a women’s team will meet to compete for The Cup. Anglers fish five three-hour sessions and points are rewarded for each trout caught and its length. Medals and cups are given to placing teams and individual point’s winners.
