Avon, CO – The 31st annual Westin Salute to the USA Presented by Slifer Smith & Frampton in Harry A. Nottingham Park takes place on Monday, July 3, 2017 starting at 5:00 p.m. Families will delight in the performance art including stilt walkers, fire jugglers, magicians, clowns, and balloon sculptors interacting with the crowd throughout the evening. The Town of Avon invites all residents and guests to enjoy a great big FREE Family Zone that will offer carnival games, inflatable jumping toys and face painting. This annual and much anticipated event would not be complete without a host of fabulous festival-style foods from fresh squeezed lemonade and funnel cakes to mini-donuts and roasted ears of corn, along with ice cold beer and chilled wine.
Music will be broadcast throughout the evening by KZYR True Local Radio from the Performance Pavilion. At 5:45 p.m., Lauren Michaels Band will take the stage, entertaining audiences with great covers and original songs penned by bandmate and guitar player Sandy Craig. Firmly in the Texas Alternative Country tradition, Michaels and her band bring a modern sound that will appeal to music fans—even outside the Country genre. Bring your dancing boots, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the great music.
The Arapahoe Philharmonic presents their Colorado Pops Orchestra at 7:45 p.m., playing a Salute to the USA, a variety of popular classical favorites sprinkled with show tunes, movie themes and western standards sure to excite and delight!
After sunset, Avon will celebrate our nation’s birth with a pyrotechnic extravaganza over beautiful Nottingham Lake. More than 10,000 shells will explode in the night sky for the Colorado Rockies’ largest display of fireworks. This spectacular show is choreographed to a musical score simulcast on KZYR 97.7. You won’t want to miss this hallmark event - Salute to the USA will quickly become a tradition in your family!
The event is made possible with support from: The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa, Slifer, Smith & Frampton, KZYR True Local Radio, Vail Honeywagon, and the Town of Avon.
