TOWN OF AVON HOSTS DESIGN CHARRETTE FOR POTENTIAL RELOCATION OF HAHNEWALD BARN TO NOTTINGHAM PARK

Hahnewald Barn Report (12 May 2016)

Avon, CO –   Architectural and engineering design professionals will join a historic barn moving specialist in Town next week to host a design charrette to assess the condition and relocation possibilities of the Hahnewald Barn.  The working design charrette will be opened to the public from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Those interested are encouraged to arrive by  6:00 p.m. for a briefing on the initial concepts developed over the course of the afternoon.   After accepting public comments and continuing to evaluate opportunities, a final schematic site plan along with planning level costs will be prepared for review at upcoming Planning and Zoning Commission and Town Council meetings.  Architects from Tomecek Studio Architects will be leading the process, along with Dean Smith from Timeless Barn Company.

During its review of the Town Owned Properties master plan, the Town of Avon Planning and Zoning Commission made a unanimous recommendation to the Avon Town Council to expedite the initial site planning and cost estimate work necessary to evaluate moving the 100+ year old structure to an area of Tract G (also known as Nottingham Park) between Lake Street and Nottingham Lake in proximity to the railroad tracks.  This action was taken given the understanding that the barn must be relocated from its current location on Eagle River Water and Sanitation District Property in the fall of 2018 to accommodate the District’s future expansion plans.

Please consider attending a tour of Tract G and the Hahanewald Barn and/or the design charrette, both scheduled to meet at the Avon Town Council Chambers, One Lake Street:

Tour: October 11 @ 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Design Charrette: October 11 @ 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
