Benchmark Plaza Building Evacuated due to Motor Vehicle Accident

Avon, CO – At approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning, Avon Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at Benchmark Plaza, located at 48 E Beaver Creek Boulevard. A vehicle collided with a support column adjacent to The Blue Plate restaurant. One male party involved in the accident was transported to Vail Health to treat non life-threatening injuries. As a safety precaution, the entire Benchmark Plaza building has been evacuated. In addition, E Beaver Creek Boulevard, from Avon Road to Beaver Creek Place, has been closed, as well as the right lane on northbound Avon Road between roundabouts 3 and 4. A structural engineer and other professionals are on site to evaluate damage to the structure and determine repair options. The area will be closed for as long as necessary so that the appropriate repairs can be made. It is anticipated that the area could be affected for up to eight hours. Residents are advised to remain outside of the area. Thank you for your patience.
