Avon Relaunches Zagster Bikes Just in Time for Spring
Avon, CO – The Town of Avon, with support from Zagster, is relaunching the bike share program for 2019 on Monday, April 1st. The program will provide residents and visitors with a convenient, affordable and healthy way to get around town.
Avon’s bike share program is part of a comprehensive multimodal effort to reduce personal vehicle usage and to support the Climate Action Plan for the Eagle County Community. Along with Avon’s pedestrian friendly paths, fare-free transit system, and free public parking, the bike share program will continue to enhance Avon’s Free Spaces to Explore.
Twenty-five cruiser bikes will be available at six stations for members to use for on-demand, local trips. Riders join the program by signing up for annual or hourly memberships. Go to www.avon.org/zagster for coupons and free rides. Bikes are located in the following locations:
- Eaglebend Housing Complex
- Avon Station
- The Aspens Mobile Home Park
- City Market
- Nottingham Beach
- Avon Recreation Center
Avon’s bike share features the Zagster 8, an award-winning bike known for its practical design, comfortable ride and easy handling. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Boston, Mass., Zagster is the largest and fastest-growing bike-share provider in the United States. Zagster operates more than 200 bike share programs in 35 states across North America and specializes in making bike sharing available in areas where traditional bike share providers can't reach. Unlike other programs in which riders must drop off bikes at designated stations for every stop, Zagster’s programs give users the freedom to ride as long as they want, wherever they want. And because Zagster manages all aspects of its programs — from bikes and technology, to maintenance and marketing — Zagster partners can create and deploy scalable bike-share systems that best suit their needs and work within their budgets.
