Avon Police Reminds Residents to Buckle Up

Avon, CO—The Avon Police Department will be participating in the Click It or Ticket Enforcement Program beginning Monday, May 24 through Sunday, June 6, 2010. For your safety and for the safety of all vehicle passengers, seat belt use for adults is required by law.

As a reminder, buckling up is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Seat belts save over 13,000 lives every year, one of them could be yours. During a crash, being buckled up helps keep you safe and secure inside your vehicle, whereas being completely thrown out of a vehicle is almost always deadly. Seat belts are the best defense against impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers.

The Avon Police Department encourages everyone to buckle up this summer season.

For more information on seat belts, child safety seats, and airbags contact the Avon Police Department at 970-748-4040.
