Virginia Egger accepts Town Manager position for Avon

Avon, CO—The Town of Avon welcomes Virginia Egger of Sun Valley, Idaho as the next Town Manager; she will assume her role on December 1, 2012. After an extensive assessment process involving town council, town staff and a panel of municipal professionals and local community and business leaders, the Avon Town Council selected Ms. Egger out of a pool of over ninety applicants for the position. Interviews took place with a select few candidates in July, and contract negotiations were completed with an employment agreement approved at the last town council meeting.

“It is a thrilling time to serve the Town of Avon and I am honored to be able to join Mayor Carroll and the Town's incredibly motivated, committed and hardworking Council and staff,” said Egger. “During the interview process, it was abundantly clear to me the good of the community guides the decisions of those serving Avon’s residents, businesses and visitors. It is an exciting opportunity for me personally to work for this dynamic community.”

Ms. Egger has municipal government experience currently serving as the top administrator for the City of Sun Valley, ID and having served as Town Manager for the Town of Telluride, CO. Her work in these communities afforded her the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge in local government policy development, budget and fiscal management, contract negotiation, and strategic community planning and implementation. In addition, she also has experience with both the nonprofit and private sectors in Colorado, Idaho and New York. Ms. Egger served as Executive Director for the Telluride Mountainfilm Festival & Tour and she founded and led the Telluride Mountain School, serving as its first Head of School.

"It is exciting to have Ms. Egger as Avon's new Town Manager. Her enthusiasm, intellect, work ethic, and ability to collaborate will be very beneficial as we continue to build our community. Avon is a town with unlimited potential and we look forward Ms. Egger being a vital part of Avon reaching new heights," said Avon’s Mayor Rich Carroll.

A welcome reception will be planned for Egger after her start date in December. For additional information on this process, contact Patty McKenny at 970-748-4035 or pmckenny@avon.org.
