Avon Town Council Set to Review Trails Plan Update at September 13 Meeting

Avon Planning and Zoning Commission recommends revisions to Trails Plan Update

Avon, CO – On August 16, the Avon Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the 2016 Recreational Trails Master Trails Plan (“Trails Plan Update”). Their recommendations include the approval of both a pump track in Nottingham Park, and new “M” trails in the East Avon Preserve and above Buffalo Ridge Apartments. The Planning and Zoning Commission also recommended removing the Upper Metcalf Loops from future consideration.

The Avon Town Council will consider the Planning and Zoning Commission’s recommendation at its upcoming September 13 meeting, which will include a 6:00 p.m. presentation of the Trails Plan, followed by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife presenting its report and recommendation for the proposed new trails. Public questions and comments will be permitted beginning at 6:30 p.m. Similar in format to the Planning and Zoning Commission’s public meeting, persons wishing to speak will need to have signed up on a sign-in sheet upon entering the Town Council Chambers. A two-minute limit should be expected depending on the number of persons wishing to speak.

On September 12 and 13, trail tours for M2 and M3 will be conducted by Town staff. To participate in a trail tour, RSVP to David McWilliams at cmcwilliams@avon.org or 970.748.4023, not later than September 9. Tour partakers should park at the trailhead on Swift Gulch Road. The tour is expected to take about 15-30 minutes.

Email communication and letters will continue to be accepted into the public record, at any time, by sending comments to Avon’s Town Clerk Debbie Hoppe at dhoppe@avon.org. Letters received to date will be included in the Council materials for the meeting and do not need to be resent. The Trails Plan Update can be found at www.avon.org/trails.
