Avon Town Council Election
Nomination Petition Information
Nomination petitions for three (3) openings on the Avon Town Council will be available at the Town Clerk’s Office, Avon Town Hall, One Lake Street, Avon, Colorado beginning Tuesday, August 7, 2012. The deadline for filing the petitions with the Avon Town Clerk is Monday, August 27, 2012 by 5 pm.
Election information may be by calling the Town Clerk at 970-748-4025 for an appointment to review the election information.
To be eligible for election, candidates must be 18 years of age on the date of the election, a citizen of the United States, a qualified elector, and have resided within the Town of Avon for a minimum of one (1) year immediately preceding said election.

Election Overview
Avon's general municipal election is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of even numbered
years and is non-partisan.
Town elections are governed by the Colorado Municipal Election Laws, except as
otherwise provided by Town Charter or by ordinance hereafter enacted.
All special and regular elections are non-partisan. Candidates for municipal
office may not run under any party label.
Voter Registration
Avon electors may
register to vote or change voter information, including address change or party
affiliation, at the following locations 1) Eagle County Building, Clerk and
Recorder’s Office, Eagle 970-328-8710, 2) Eagle County Clerks office in the
Annex Building Avon 970-748-2000. For further information on Colorado Elections

Requirements for voter registration include:
- Must be a United
States citizen
- 18 years of age prior
to election date
- A resident for at
least 30 days
- Not claim the right
to vote in another state
