Historic Preservation
The Historical Preservation Advisory Committee was established on May 10, 2005 by Town Council via Resolution 05-13 and amended by Ordinance No. 08-04.

Mission Statement
To protect, preserve and restore structures of historical significance in the Town of Avon, Colorado. To expand public awareness, appreciation and knowledge of local history and to foster widespread appreciation and respect for Avon's historic and cultural heritage which is a valuable part of the larger historic landscape of the Rocky Mountain Region.  (Revised January 2010).

Historical Surveys and Maps

The Town contracted Tatanka Historical Associates, Inc. to complete nine (9) historic analysis surveys for sites and structures within the Town boundaries.  In order to further understand Avon's unique historic background, the following surveys were completed:
  1. Nottingham Powerplant
  2. Traer Homestead
  3. Nottingham House, Hurd Cottage & Outbuildings
  4. Nottingham & Puder Ditch
  5. Hahnewald Barn
  6. Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Corridor
  7. Cabin on Nottingham Lake
