You may have noticed walking around town the many beautiful bronze sculptures on display. The Town of Avon and the Avon Art Council is proud of its rich heritage and places a high value on public art.In 1989, Avon began its public art collection with the unveiling of"Checkmate" by cowboy artist Herb Mignery at the Town's 10th Anniversary Celebration.
Glenna Goodacre Statues
The Avon Arts Council added a magnificent nine piece bronze by Glenna Goodacre in 1992."
Sidewalk Society" is a perfect reflection of our contemporary community."Basket Dancers," and "Pledge of Allegiance" also by Goodacre, were added to the collection."Pledge of Allegiance" has become a key inspirational piece for the town, reminding us all to take a moment, look up and reflect upon our nations flag and rich heritage.

Gerald Balcair's "Mother's Pride"

An opportunity to showcase the town's collection came about when Avon developed a series of roundabouts.The "
Rite of Passage" roundabout features a larger than life herd of spirited horses by Colorado artist, Sandy Scott.Gerald Balcair's "
Mother's Pride" draws people to it daily.Where else can you get so close to a mother bear and her cubs?
Public Library Statues
George Lundeen's "
The Classics" illustrates the joy of reading in front of the Avon Public Library.The Library also is home to commissioned bust portraits, and paintings provided by involved citizens.In the Children's Garden, the Avon Public Library and the Arts Council placed a lovable, whimsical pig titled, "
Eat More Beef" by Sandy Scott.
