Town of Avon – New Bus Arrivals
Two new, cleaner and more fuel-efficient, diesel buses for Avon
The Town of Avon received two new, cleaner and more fuel-efficient, diesel buses. The $1M purchase was made possible with a $800,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
“These two 35-foot buses will no doubt enhance our transit service in reliability and comfort,” said Avon Transit Superintendent Jim Shoun.
“Transit plays an important role in our community, environment and public health. These new buses will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enable a more efficient transit operation,” said Mayor Sarah Smith Hymes. She continued “Many of our residents and visitors rely on public transit and these new buses will allow us to continue to provide vital transit service in a cleaner and fuel-efficient way.”
The Town thanks CDOT for their support and recognition of this important need. For questions about Avon Transit or the new buses, please contact Avon Mobility Director Eva Wilson at (970) 390-2014 or mobility@avon.org.
