Avon Recreation Center Announces 2021 Fall/Winter Seasonal Programming

School is back in session and so is programming at the Avon Recreation Center! The Rec Center recently released its updated 2021 Fall/Winter Activity Guide which includes programming for children and adults through the fall and winter seasons.

The recreation center will again offer an After-School Enrichment Program at Avon Elementary School, Monday through Friday, for children ages 5-11. Students enjoy time to play, complete homework, work on craft projects, and a have a snack. Pre-registration is required and transportation is provided for Homestake Peak School students.

School’s Out Camp will take place on select days throughout the school year, as childcare for visitors and locals alike from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. when Eagle County Public Schools are closed. Registration closes at 10:00 a.m. the day prior.

If your kids are antsy to get back to playing sports, a new program begins on Monday, September 6th. The Most Valuable Peewees program will help kids learn the basics of football, basketball, soccer, and baseball, providing an opportunity to learn the ins-and-outs of America’s most popular games while burning off some energy!

With a wide variety of aquatics programming ranging from youth group swimming lessons to a traveling USA swim team, the aquatics department has upcoming sessions slated to run in September, November, and December. Registration for September sessions opens Wednesday, September 1st. The department will also offer adult group swim lessons in September and November. During the month of October, the pool area is undergoing renovations closing the area for the duration of the month.

For adults, enjoy the return of drop-in sports beginning November 1st — pickleball on Monday, volleyball on Tuesday, soccer on Wednesday and basketball on Thursday — at Avon Elementary School starting at 6:00 p.m. The cost is $5 per night.
